AI Agents Don’t Wait for Quotes. Is Your Wholesale Business Ready?

Pop quiz: Who are the world's biggest digital wholesalers? Answer: Neoclouds, a cohort that didn't even have a name 5 years ago.
AI-native startups have profoundly disrupted hyperscalers' established business models, capturing an estimated $150 billion in future GPU-as-a-service expenditure from their cloud predecessors. The good news is that communication service providers (CSPs) have much to win by working with these emerging AI ecosystem players, if they're ready to play.
Networks are not a side hustle
The AI supercycle embraces the power of networks. More than 40% of neoclouds are urgently seeking networking expertise, according to Omdia. That's no surprise, given a third of all global network traffic is already AI-enriched and will rise to two-thirds by 2030. Importantly, what’s moving is not simply ‘data,’ but AI agents’ decisions, recommendations, machine instructions, and even digital experiences tailored for human consumption.
Behind every AI-driven transaction sits an increasingly complex ecosystem of partners providing infrastructure, connectivity, applications, and services. As value is created and consumed across multiple participants, CSPs must manage not only the network, but also commercial relationships. Pricing, quoting, contracting, and settlement are no longer back-office functions but strategic capabilities.
The next generation of wholesale
Next-generation wholesale is agentic, programmable, and sovereign by design. GPU clusters are distributed. Sovereign requirements are real and already driving a third of enterprises to seek new networking suppliers. CSPs have opportunities in edge orchestration, datacenter assets, and securing the digital chain of custody with real-time control over where AI data transits.
These are not simple volume-led connectivity plays. A single offer may combine network services, cloud infrastructure, AI capabilities, and third-party applications, each with a distinct pricing model, commercial terms, and revenue-sharing requirements. Spreadsheets, manual workflows, and week-long quoting cycles won’t cut it here. Nor will improving only one part of the process. Partners need to collaborate, configure offers, price services, and place orders in real-time within a scalable commercial framework.
Fast quoting is important. But speed creates value only when deals are activated, managed, reconciled, and settled without friction. People like to buy from people. Agents like to buy from agents. Successful wholesalers will combine commercial agility with ecosystem scale: they will ensure that when a neocloud’s customer demands a connected, secure, and sovereign AI cluster, both network and commercial infrastructure can keep up.
